Andrew Whyte takes his passion for cars and translates it into
fantastic light painting shots of vehicles that are alive with motion.
When I see one of Andrew's pictures I can almost feel the g-force of
his cars accelerating at light speed through the frame. His images
transfer a sense of speed and motion and either make us feel like a
passenger or like we better get the hell out of the way as the vehicle
zips past. AndWhyNot is his handle on Flickr. I remember
seeing his driving shots in light junkies for the first time and I saw
a unique combination of an intimate understanding of all things
automotive as well as a distinct ability to convey the sensations of
sports driving in a still frame. I'm sure the hours behind the wheel
gripping corners, punching the gas, quick-shifting through the gears
and generally going fast has given Andrew the insight required to allow
the rest of us feel the excitement of powerful vehicles pushed hard and
opened up on long stretches of English road. Andrew is also
very active in the Partsmouth at Night group which is a collection of
night photographers that meet up and run through Portsmouth/Southsea torches
blazing and cameras clicking! I expect our visit with Andrew will be a
combination of Portsmouth group shooting and sexy cars!
